PS4 lock-ins confirmed for 60 GAME stores ahead of launch

Ahead of next month’s PS4 release date, retailer GAME has announced that it will hold PS4 lock-ins at more than 60 stores up and down the country.

Giving eager gamers the chance to go hands-on with the PS4 ahead of the console’s November 29 UK release, GAME has announced that it will hold PS4 lock-ins throughout October and November, with the first events taking place in Doncaster, Nottingham and Bristol next Monday, October 21.

Wrapping up on November 17, a little under two weeks before the console goes on sale, the PS4 lock-ins will let avid gamers sample not only the next-gen console, but a selection of next-gen games, with the likes of FIFA 14, Knact and Contrast all set to be playable.

Sony’s new console finally arrives on 29th November, but you’ll be able to get hands on with the PlayStation 4 before that with our latest round of lock-ins,” an official GAME spokesperson has stated.

They added: “Over 60 GAME stores across the UK will be extending their opening hours to host these incredible and exclusive events, giving you the chance to experience the power of the Playstation 4 in a unique environment – and before anyone else in the UK.”

Although the events will let games have an early play of the PS4, they will not be open to all, with spaces limited. To apply, gamers must either visit or Tweet their local stores to register their interest. Spaces will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. A full list of participating stores and dates can be found here.

Just half of the upcoming next-gen console wars, the PS4 will hit UK retailers just seven days after the rival Xbox One release date.

Keen to spread the love, GAME announced earlier this month a selection of Xbox One lock-ins that would also run throughout October and November.
