Premier League clubs to use Football Manager to monitor potential signings

Football Manager is no longer just about frittering away the hours, with Premier League clubs to start utilising the game’s database to help find and track potential real world signings.

With professional scouts from many top-flight clubs already making use of the Prozone Recruiter database, developer Sports Interactive has confirmed that its Football Manager data will start being fed into the online analysis platform.

With the Prozone system already providing player data and archived video footage on more than 80,000 footballers around the world, the Football Manager platform will now feed in more than two decades’ worth of biographical, contractual and positional player information.

“For years we’ve heard stories of real-life managers and scouts using our data to help with the recruitment process,” Miles Jacobson, Studio Director at Sports Interactive said. From now on, it’s official…real managers around the world will be finding and comparing players using data and a search system that will be very familiar to players of Football Manager.

He added: “The information gathered by our network of more than 1,300 scouts around the world, combined with Prozone’s amazing performance data, makes this an invaluable tool for any football club that takes player recruitment seriously.”

Football Manager isn’t going to replace the traditional scout just yet. Prozone CEO Thomas Schmider has stated that the data service remains a supplementary tool for the professional eye.

“Prozone Recruiter has been built to supplement the intuition of scouts and coaches by delivering detailed performance information on over 80,000 players worldwide.

“The Sports Interactive database is a highly accurate and valuable resource that will further enhance the recruitment services that we provide. The integration of Sports Interactive data further establishes Recruiter as the most comprehensive recruitment and asset management platform available.”
