Pre-ordered an Apple Watch? You may not be waiting that long after all

Some Apple Watch customers, with delivery estimates listed as May and June, could be receiving their orders sooner than expected, judging by reports on Wednesday.

Numerous 9to5Mac and MacRumors readers say the status of their orders have changed from ‘Processing Items’ to ‘Preparing for Shipment’ within the tracking page.

While the delivery estimates of between 4 and 6 weeks have not been changed, the change in status suggests the pre-order customers may get their orders closer to Friday’s release date.

The reports follow those earlier this week, revealing the credit cards of pre-order customers have now been charged for the forthcoming device.

Today’s developments only service to add to the confusion surrounding Apple Watch availability. It remains unclear whether anyone will be receiving the wearable on the Friday April 24 release date.

Meanwhile, there’s no fixed date for when, if ever, the Apple Watch will arrive for purchase at retail store locations. Recent hints have suggested it won’t be until at least June.

Regardless, it seems safe to say Apple will want to do a better job of handling the initial selling arrangements when the next generation device rolls around.
