Portal is a turbocharged Wi-Fi router

Wi-Fi is an amazing technology, but it’s not without its faults. For example, the more people use one connection, the slower it is for everyone. But not with Portal.

It’s a router that’s designed to avoid congestion, meaning that everyone in the home can consistently get a fast, reliable internet connection.

It uses proprietary spectrum turbocharger technology, which – according to the manufacturer – provides access to 300 per cent more of the radio airwaves than any other router. This makes it up to three times faster than rivals, and gives you up to twice the range in crowded environments like homes in densely-populated areas.

All routers share the same spectrum, meaning that just one person streaming a 4K film can slow down access for everyone else. But Portal operates in a specially protected portion of the 5GHz radio spectrum that was originally meant for weather radar systems.

It’s like having a private road, while everyone else is bumper to bumper on the motorway.

If it gets too crowded, Portal will change to another portion of spectrum thanks to its SmartLanes tech – this actively monitors for congestion and is able to switch to the quieter parts of the spectrum to keep your speed up.
