Pornhub’s new payment method lets you enjoy smut without getting busted

The internet is awash with free pornography, but sometimes it’s necessary – and indeed polite – to fork over a few quid to get your kicks. After all, those lavish hotel rooms and Hollywood-style sets don’t pay for themselves.

However, while there are many well meaning viewers, those with shared accounts are often reluctant to hand over credit card details, through fear of being rumbled by the monthly statements.

Now PornHub believes it has the answer for viewers hoping to upgrade to its Premium subsription tier on the downlow.

The company has announced it is now accepting the cryptocurrency Verge, which is designed to protect the identity of those spending it.

The firm says it’ll offer users both “convenience and security” if they choose to pay using the cryptocurrency formerly known as Dogecoindark.

Innovation and privacy

Those who use Verge can hide specific transactions, IP addresses and locations via Tor and the I2P Anonymous Network

“Here at Pornhub, we have always strongly valued innovation and privacy,” Pornhub Vice President Corey Price said in a statement (via Metro).

“Our acceptance of Verge is an affirmation of our dedication to innovation and privacy, which recently has caused much concern and been at the forefront of all tech consumers’ minds. We’re extremely excited to offer our fans the ability to use crypto and think Verge, with its focus on anonymity, is the best option – whether for privacy, convenience or both.”

The company’s sister sites (metaphorically speaking, of course), like Brazzers and Nutaku, are also accepting the Verge currency from today.

“Pornhub is a global organization with nearly a hundred million daily users,’ said Verge Founder Justin Sunerok.

“This partnership represents an enormous market with a global reach that will compete with fiat currencies. It’s huge for Verge and we’re extremely excited to finally be able to announce it.”
