Last week, we were all amazed by killer eagles trained to snuff out drones, and it turns out UK police are interested too.
London’s Metropolitan police has shown interest in a Dutch police project that sees eagles taking down rogue quadcopters.
Met commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe was “enthusiastic” about the initiative after being shown a video of the eagles in action.
That’s according to the Times, which reports that the video “quickly captured [the] imagination] of Hogan-Howe.

A Met spokesperson also provided the following comment:
“As would be expected in an organisation that is transforming, we take an interest in all innovative new ideas, and will of course be looking at the work of the Dutch police use of eagles.”
The eagles in question are the result of a partnership between the Dutch National Police and raptor-training company Guard From Above.

The eagles are trained to apprehend nuisance drones and bring them down to a safe place away from people.
The Dutch Police say the trials are ongoing, and a decision on whether to use them will be made in a few months.
