Pokemon Go nets 7.5m US downloads, adds billions to Nintendo’s value

Since its launch in the US last week, the Pokemon Go mobile game for iOS and Android has been downloaded a whopping 7.5 million times.
The Nintendo title, which is already somewhat of a phenomenon, is already raking in an incredible $1.6 million a day from the Apple App Store in the US, according to Forbes.
The AR game, which encourages players to find Pokemon in the real world, is free to play, but the in-app purchases are bringing in serious cash for the company.
Those purchases enhance the game by offering Double XP, rewards for egg-hatching and luring Pokemon.

“Pokemon Go as so far managed to generate $14.04 million across mobile platforms since its release,” said SuperData Research analyst Joost van Dreunen.
“[This puts] it ahead of other titles using the franchise, including Pokemon Shuffle Mobile which has earned an estimated $14.03 million since its release in August 2015.”
The incredibly successful start for the game has seen Nintendo’s value surge. The Japanese giant’s value surged by around a quarter on Monday.
Pokemon Go is yet to officially launch in the UK yet, but there are ways around that.
