PlayStation VR bundles being considered for European territories

Sony’s VR headset may come bundled with the PlayStation Camera and Move controllers in Europe.

PlayStation VR will retail for £350 in the UK, but this won’t include the camera required to use the device.

It can be purchased separately or as part of a larger bundle, which as of now, is available only in the US.

Speaking to MCV, Sony Europe President Jim Ryan hinted that some bundles may be available later this year.

“Europe is a delight to work in, but it’s complicated, fragmented and challenging from a logistical perspective,” he explained.

“It is complicated by the fact that the install base of both PlayStation Camera and PlayStation Move numbers in the many millions. So we don’t want to load the box with these things, when in some cases our consumers already own them.”

The PlayStation Camera sold surprisingly well following the launch of the PS4 in 2013, but it’s unclear how many are out in the wild.

“We just need to get into the detail of what our SKU configurations are. What retailers might do, because UK retailers love nothing better than to create a bundle. I have to work it through country-by-country, retailer-by-retailer… it’s messy, but it’s eminently solvable.”

It’s difficult to imagine a similar bundle not coming to Europe when the headset launches in October 2016.

Some retailers will likely bundle in the camera and motion controllers anyway, if you’re looking for the full VR experience.
