PlayStation Experience 2016 – All the news and announcements

This year’s PlayStation Experience keynote saw plenty of new and unexpected announcements, including the reveal of The Last of Us Part 2 and our very first look at Crash Bandicoot Remastered. And that’s just the start!

We’ve rounded up all the announcements and news you need to know from this weekend’s event.

The Last of Us Part 2

We’ll start off with the biggest surprise of the evening. Nobody expected The Last of Us Part 2 to be revealed in 2016, but it seems Naughty Dog love to prove its fans wrong.

The debut trailer is utterly gorgeous, and may give you goosebumps. Check it out below:

Uncharted 4: The Lost Legacy

This standalone solo adventure will feature all the precarious platforming and chaotic gunfights Uncharted is renown for, except Nathan Drake is nowhere to be seen. Instead, it features a familiar face from Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

We don’t want to spoil the surprise, so we’ll let the lengthy debut trailer do the talking:

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite

Rumoured days before the official announcement, the beloved crossover fighter is back with Infinite. Featuring the likes of Ryu, Mega Man, Miss Marvel and more, there is plenty of beautiful fanservice awaiting us in 2017.

Oh, and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is available on PS4 right now!

Knack 2

We all joked about the first game, laughing at the distant possibility that a sequel could be on the way. Well. It is, and it’s coming to PS4 in 2017. This time you’ll be able to drag a friend along on your platforming adventures.

Resident Evil 7

Capcom released yet another spooky trailer for Resident Evil 7 while simultaneously updating the Beginning Hour Demo on PS4. It now supports PlayStation VR, which is a nightmare waiting to happen. If you need us, we’ll be hiding behind the sofa.

Yakuza 6 and Kiwami

Sony has done a fantastic job of bringing obscure Japanese games to western audiences in recent months, and this may be the most exciting announcement yet. Yakuza 6 and Yakuza Kiwami, a remake of the original PS2 title, are coming to North America and Europe in 2017.

You can check out the style-oozing trailer below:

Crash Bandicoot Remastered

Now known as the Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy, Sony and Activision are remastering all three original Crash games into a single complete package. You’ll be able to switch between new and old visuals at the touch of a button, if you’re nostalgic taste buds are feeling a tad peckish.

In addition, Parappa The Rapper, Patapon and Wipeout are all getting upgrades on PS4.

Destiny: Rise of Iron – The Dawning

Destiny’s December event will see the long-awaited return of Sparrow Racing and the Icebreaker, a sniper rifle once removed from the game for being too powerful. Strike Scoring is also coming, which will see medals and multipliers applied to your performance.

You can expect the usual array of new weapons and equipment, too.

The conference featured a slew of announcements we haven’t listed above, so we’ve included them in a handy little breakdown below:
