A dark mode toggle is finally coming to the Google Pixel Launcher
Pixel users will soon be able to manually choose between dark and light mode for the Pixel Launcher.
Right now, the Pixel launcher automatically turns black if you have a dark wallpaper, and turns white if you have a light-coloured background. You can’t mix and match.

However, soon enough, you’ll simply be able to switch things up by swiping down from the top of the screen and tapping a button.
Earlier this year, somebody submitted a request for a dedicated dark/light mode toggle in the Android P developer preview issue tracker and, as spotted by Android Police, Google appears to have come through.

“We have added support for a Dark theme to be applied to quick settings and launcher under Settings -> Display -> Device Theme,” a Google employee has written in response to the request.
“It will be available in a future Android build.”

It’s hardly a huge new addition, but it’ll definitely make plenty of Pixel owners happy.
The second Android P beta came out earlier this month, but you might want to wait until later this year for the real deal to arrive before ditching Oreo.
