We wonder exactly why.
You should by now be aware that the best TVs you can buy are, without a shadow of a doubt, Pioneer’s Kuro range. In both its 50in (PDP-LX5090) and 60in (PDP-LX6090) incarnations. And what’s better than a great TV? A Limited Edition TV of course, available in either beige or white. Which is a bit odd as Kuro, I’m reliably told, is an ancient Japanese word meaning ‘black’ – which these new sets decidedly are not.
Frankly we’re not particularly enamoured with the choice of colours the limited run Kuros come in. Not that we can dispute their exclusivity. Only 1,000 ‘Beige Brigé’ and 1,500 White Kuros will be available across the whole of Europe so if you do pick one up then at least you know not may others will.
One other possible downside is that these Limited Edition Kuros only come with 50in panels, so if you need or want a 60in Kuro you’ll still have to have a black unit. TR consensus is that that’s hardly a concession. In case it helps sway a decision, the White and Beige Kuros also pack satellite receivers, although you’ll be limited to free-to-air satellite signals, rather than Freesat in the UK. You’ll still get all the same channels, but the interface is nothing like as slick.
If you want my advice, just go for the black.
