Pikmin 4 is “very close to completion”

Nintendo has confirmed that Pikmin 4 is in development and is “very close to completion”.

If you’re a Pikmin fan, it’s time to be very excited because Nintendo has revealed the next entry in the Pikmin series is nearly finished.

Speaking during an interview with Eurogamer, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that Pikmin 4 has been in development for quite some time.

“It’s actually very close to completion,” said Miyamoto. “Pikmin teams are always working on the next one.”

Nintendo also reiterated the news in a statement to the website:

“We can confirm that Pikmin 4 is in development but that is all we can confirm at present,”

The last Pikmin title, Pikmin 3, was released back in 2013 for the Wii U.

What’s slightly frustrating is that Miyamoto didn’t give any indication as to which platform Pikmin 4 would launch on.

The fact that he’s even talking about it now might mean this is a Wii U release, but it’s plausible that it might also launch on the Nintendo NX.

Nintendo’s mysterious next console is quite the enigma at the moment. It’s currently in development, under the codename NX, but Nintendo has said it won’t even talk about it again until 2016.

There’s no word on a Nintendo NX release date, so it’s tricky to speculate as yet.
