Philips PFL6008 series unveiled with frameless designs

TP Vision has unveiled the new Philips PFL6008 series of Smart TVs offering a frameless design with Full 1080p HD LCD screens.

Featuring a range of Smart TV applications including catch-up TV apps, the Philips PFL6008 series also includes 3D capabilities and a two-sided Ambilight function to compliment the Philips PFL6008 series’ frameless designs.

Also released are the Philips PFL5008 series, which offers similar features to the Philips PFL6008 series but in smaller screen sizes and a lower cost but lacks the frameless design of the top-end series.

The small screen Philips PFL4208 series has also been extended to include integrated Wi-Fi for the Smart TV features of the 22- to 24-inch screens and a PC input so that the series can double as PC monitors if needs be.

Philips PFL6008 series Features

The Philips PFL6008 series features a unique frameless design mounted on a slim U-shaped frame to compliment the minimalistic aesthetics. Attempting to give an impression of a larger TV screen, the Philips PFL6008 series includes a dual-sided Ambilight which projects light onto the wall behind the TV matching the colour of whatever is being shown on screen, as seen on some previous models like the 55-inch Philips PFL6007.

Fast-action scenes within movies and sports will be aided by a 500Hz Perfect Motion Rate, whilst colours will seem richer and deeper due to Micro Dimming technology for contract improvement. Equipped with Easy 3D (passive 3D) capabilities, the Philips PFL6008 series also features Perfect 3D Natural Motion to smooth 3D motion and Premium 3D Depth to adjust the viewing depth of 3D images. As 3D content is still fairly limited, the Philips PFL6008 series is capable of adding the third-dimension to 2D movies through its Premium 2D-3D conversion technology.

The remote control included with the Philips PFL6008 series includes both a classic cursor control and a sensor driven keyboard input, making browsing and TV navigation more interactive. If the Philips remote control isn’t to the user’s liking, they can install the Philips MyRemote app on their Android or iOS device via the Apple App Store and Google Play store. The app allows complete control of the Philips PFL6008 series as a remote but also allows wireless streaming to and from smart devices and Wi-Fi Miracast with the connected Smart TV.

Philips PFL6008 series Release Date and Price
TP Vision has yet to release any UK pricing for its new TV ranges, including the Philips PFL6008 series. The high-end series along with the Philips PFL5008 and Philips PFL4208 is set to be released in the second quarter of this year.

The Philips PFL6008 series is available in screen sizes from 42- to 60-inches, the Philips PFL5008 in 32- to 50-inch screen options, while the Philips PFL4208 can be purchased in 22- to 24-inch options.
