Philips Hue Adore is your very own magic mirror for the bathroom

“Mirror, mirror on the wall… turn the light on please I need to pee.” Smart home pioneer Philips Hue has revealed the connected Adore Bathroom lighted mirror, which’ll reduce the need to fumble for the light switch during night time visits.

The standalone mirror only enables white shades (so now technicolour bathroom scenes in the bathroom folks) and can be connected directly to the Hue Hub. It’s compatible with the Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit smart home platforms, which will enable voice controls.

It’s also certified as IP44, which means it’ll withstand the odd splash. After all, it wouldn’t be much of a bathroom mirror if it didn’t. It’s also not heated either, because it’d just steam up.

Philips writes in a blog post: “With the Hue mirror it also comes with a dimmer switch included too which you can set up to control this light. Using the app settings and presets you can se the light to relax ideal for in the bath, read, energise or concentrate, ideal for maximum light in the morning to help wake you up and also when putting make up on in front of the mirror or having a shave.”

There is a slight kicker though, you’ll need to actually wire this app up to the wall, rather than simply hang it up in the bathroom. That might require some professional installation.

It’s not up for sale just yet, but the Adore is already up on Philips’ website. It’ll cost £229.99 when it goes up for grabs in August. The company is also planning to sell an Adore bathroom light, which can be installed above an existing mirror, which will go on sale with a dimmer switch.
