PES 2014 trailer released at E3 2013

The first PES 2014 trailer has been released, with developer Konami using E3 2013 as a platform to demonstrate the next addition of its much loved football franchise.

Formally unveiled last week, PES 2014 will land later this year as a direct rival to EA’s FIFA 14, with the latest Pro Evolution Soccer iteration introducing a raft of new features and gameplay enhancements.

Showing the football sim in action, the new PES 2014 trailer highlights a number of Konami’s claimed Pro Evo improvements, with the game set to host improved graphics and more fluid animation over past series titles.

Featuring the recently crowned Champions League holders, Bayern Munich, the PES 2014 trailer focusses heavily on the upcoming game’s TrueBall Tech, a features which provides more true-to-life ball control and movements.

Discussing the TrueBall Tech recently, Konami stated: “In addition to steering the ball with subtle movements, there is the ability to shield the ball from opposing players, use deft controls to wrong-foot them, and intuitive methods to master close control.”

An official spokesperson for Konami added: “Gone are the limitations imposed by dated animation systems and AI elements, and instead PES 2014 boasts a central core that perfectly mimics the skill and awareness that elevates the world’s greatest players above their peers.”

Further PES 2014 additions include a new Motion Animation Stability System. Shown in the new PES 2014 trailer via some serious player jostling, Konami has suggested the system “simulates the bodily contact between players within bespoke animations that segue seamlessly into each other.”

Sounding somewhat similar to the collision impact engine added to the FIFA franchise a couple of years ago, we can’t help feel that the PES franchise is still struggling to keep track with its high-profile rival.

While a precise PES 2014 release date is still up in the air, Konami has confirmed that the game will land for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC based gamers later this year. There is currently no word on a potential Xbox One or PS4 arrival.
