Pentax X-5 bridge camera announced – with 26x optical zoom

Pentax has announced the all-new X-5; a bridge camera complete with a 26x optical zoom and advanced feature set.

The aforementioned 26x optical zoom features an ultra-wide angle, covering a focal range of 22.3 to 580mm in 35mm conventional terms. The lens also features a macro mode with a minimum focus distance of just 1cm, while Pentax promises sharp images with the presence of a dual shake-reduction system.

The imaging side of things is taken care of by a 16MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor, featuring an ISO range of 100 – 6400, capable of capturing video at full HD 1080p resolution. The model also features a 3in, 460k-dot tiltable LCD screen, as well as an electronic viewfinder complete with dioptre adjustment.

As well as offering full manual control over shooting settings, the Pentax X-5 also offers 16 scene modes and Pentax’s Auto Picture scene recognition mode.

As yet there’s no information on when the Pentax X-5 will be released, or any news on how much it will cost for that matter, although we expect it to hit shelves within the next month or two.
