Pebble Time app finally allowed onto iOS App Store
The accompanying iPhone app for the new Pebble Time smartwatch has finally been approved by Apple and allowed onto the App Store.
Pebble started shipping out the first units of its second-generation smartwatch on March 27, which means that they’ll have started arriving by now. However, iPhone-using early adopters will have been frustrated that there was initially no way to hook the watch up to their phones.
The Pebble Time app appeared to be stuck in Apple approval hell. Suspiciously so, in fact, given that the Pebble Time is a direct rival to the lukewarmly received Apple Watch.
However, the Pebble Time Watch app is now available for free download on the iOS App Store.
The app lets you set up and manage your new Pebble Time smartwatch. You can add new watch faces, load little watch apps onto the device, and manage software updates as the Pebble team makes improvements.
There’s been an Android app available for the Pebble Time for a while now.

The Pebble Time watch itself features a slimmer, more robust design than the original Pebble. It also comes with a colour E Ink display rather than the original’s monochrome effort. There’ll also be limited voice support for adding voice memos and quick responses to text messages.
Despite these extra features, the Pebble Time boasts the same 5-7 day battery life as its less capable predecessor.
