Pebble takes on FitBit with massive health update
Pebble has released another major update to its Pebble Time smartwatch range, this time focusing on the health and fitness tracking experience.
The Pebble software team seems to be working overtime at the moment. Just two months ago, they released a massive firmware update and a complete overhaul to the iPhone app experience.
Now the team has launched a new software version for its Time range, which vastly improves them as fitness wearables.
Version 3.12 of Pebble’s firmware and mobile apps for iPhone and Android goes beyond the current daily step and sleep tracking. You can now track your fitness and sleep activity over weeks and months, and get a comprehensive overview of your achievements.
It’s now also possible for your Pebble Time watch to auto-track runs and long walks. You’ll get an activity summary sent to your watch upon completion, and you’ll find detailed stats on the mobile app.

There’s also a new Smart Alarms feature in the Alarms app, which will wake you up when you’re in the lightest phase of sleep up to 30 minutes before the set time.
Meanwhile, iOS users can now start conversations or respond to voice calls using one of a number of canned responses or voice notes. This feature was already available on Android.
