Pebble adds Amazon Alexa integration to its latest wearable
The Pebble Core gets even more tempting with Alexa voice-integraton
Out of the three wearables recently announced by Pebble, the Core was the one that instantly stood out.
Instead of being a smartwatch, it’s a tiny 3G-connected piece of plastic that’ll track your runs through GPS and beam music down from Spotify.
Basically, it’s what we always wanted the iPod Shuffle to be. And now it seems like it’s getting even more features.

Amazon Echo, the original home of Alexa
Pebble has just announced it’s bringing Amazon’s clever voice-assistant Alexa to the Core. This will allow you to ask it a number of questions, search IMDB, read news headlines and check your latest shopping splurge on Amazon.
Alexa’s also great for controlling smart home tech, like Nest’s Learning Thermostat or the Philips Hue bulbs.
Will we see these voice-activated features come to the Pebble Time 2 and Pebble 2? We’d hope so, but Pebble has yet to confirm this.
There’s also the question of how this will work in the UK. While Alexa is up and running in the USA, we haven’t seen the Echo nor Alexa’s smarts on the Fire TV 4K hit this side of the Atlantic. Hopefully by the time the Core launches in early 2017, that will be a different story.
Shipping is set for January 2017 and the Pebble Core is available now for $69, or about £48 before VAT from Kickstarter.
