Panasonic’s 103in 1080p Plasma Priced

No, you can't afford it. No never. Not Ever.

I was in awe of it at Cebit, stunned when it was announced for retail and dumbfounded now there’s a price…

Officially called the TH-103PZ600U, the company’s incredible 103in 1080p natively compatible plasma will go on sale “in time for Christmas” at an equally mind bending $69.999.95. It does come with a three year warranty though…

So what are you getting for all this green? Let’s recap: a widescreen progressive display featuring a full HD pixel resolution of 1,920 x 1,080l, a contrast ratio of 4,000:1, 4,096 equivalent steps of gradation and an effective display area of 89.3 x 50.2 inches. In all, this super size monster is roughly the equivalent to four 50in Panasonic plasmas.

“With the debut of our 103-inch model, Panasonic now offers customers the most robust and diverse range of High Definition Plasma displays,” chirped Andrew Nelkin, the company’s Display Group VP. “Panasonic’s 103-inch display represents the pinnacle of our achievement to date and truly redefines the level of ultimate home entertainment available for the most demanding video connoisseur.”

Normally I wouldn’t print such a promotionsy ramble, but I figure this time around Panasonic has earned its moment in the sun.

Unsurprisingly, the TH-103PZ600U will be built to order and requires professional installation due to its weight and size. For those of you placing orders between now and December I’d just like you to know that I hate you through to your very souls.
