Latest crossover branding looks a winner.
As part of the revamp which saw Matsushita rebrand under its more familiar name Panasonic last week, the monolith organisation has released its first Viera-tagged TV focused mobile phone.
Dubbed the ‘P905iTV’, the handset certainly makes one heck of an impression with its slider design dominated by the huge 3.5in 262k colour widescreen display and its impressive 854 x 480 pixel native resolution. Panasonic claims it will manage 30fps playback and has a whopping 4000:1 contrast ratio using its own proprietary ‘LCD Artificial Intelligence’ technology.
With onboard HSDPA connectivity, streaming mobile TV (Panasonic doesn’t say which flavour(s)), a 2MP camera with autofocus and image stabiliser, TV and audio out ports plus battery life for 230 minutes talk-time (3G) and 160 minutes of video playback the handset is certainly set to peak interest.
Sadly, Panasonic doesn’t go on to specify crucial details such as size, weight, onboard storage (there is an SDHC slot) or pricing and availability (it will also come in white), but I think it’s safe to say Japan shall be the first recipient with an international roll-out to follow if it does well.
