While much of the planet is stuck in the midst of an unforgivable heatwave, Blizzard Entertainment is taking the temperature in its stride with the third annual Overwatch Summer Games! Once again, the seasonal event will introduce a variety of new cosmetic items, modes and unique ways to enjoy the hugely popular hero shooter.

What are the Overwatch Summer Games?
The Summer Games are the Overwatch equivalent of the FIFA World Cup or Olympic Games. All of its respective heroes come together to celebrate the occasion with special costumes and cosmetic touches inspired by all sorts of sporting activities and cultures.
Tracer dashes around as a track and field star while Zarya dons the look you’d expect from a world renown strongwoman. It’s a neat aesthetic makeover that lasts for the event’s duration, providing lapsed players a genuine reason to jump back into Overwatch.
Overwatch Summer Games Dates – when does it start?
Blizzard has confirmed that the Overwatch Summer Games will begin on Thursday, August 9 and run until Thursday, August 30. This will give players a solid three weeks to grind for all the skins, voicelines and other goodies they might be after.

As usual, the event will run simultaneously across PS4, Xbox One and PC, so nobody is left out.
Overwatch Summer Games Modes – Anything new?
Nothing new has been announced for Summer Games 2018, although, we will see the return of Lucio Ball! This mode has two teams of three Lucio players compete against one another as they attempt to score goals.
Last year’s iteration of Rocket League-inspired mode had Quickplay and Competitive variants, so we expect something similar this year. It’s a fun time, although doesn’t possess a huge amount of depth. However, it’s a great way to earn loot boxes!
Overwatch Summer Games Skins – How do they look?
Blizzard has only revealed a handful of cosmetic skins for Summer Games 2018 thus far, and they all look spectacular. Highlights include new outfits for D.Va, Ana, Winston and Reinhardt.
