Overwatch is Blizzard’s biggest beta ever

Last week’s Overwatch open beta was played by an impressive 9.7 million people, setting new records for Blizzard Entertainment.
The beta was played for a staggering 81 million hours across PS4, Xbox One and PC, which is roughly 37 million matches.
“We’re thrilled that such an incredible number of players from around the globe got a chance to check out Overwatch during the Open Beta,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “Our mission was to make sure as many console and PC gamers as possible could experience the full game ahead of its launch—the response was overwhelming, and we hope that everyone had a blast.”

Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer shooter featuring a cast of 21 playable heroes, each with a diverse range of skills and abilities.
