Outriders is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X later this year

Square Enix and People Can Fly have released the debut gameplay trailer for Outriders, a new co-op shooter coming to consoles and PC later this year.

First unveiled back at E3 2019, we have now received a substantial update from the project by the creators of Bulletstorm and Gears of War: Judgement. Going by the trailer, which you can check out yourself below, it’s shaping up nicely.

Outriders is a third-person shooter which will follow humanity as they seek to craft a new home on the planet of Enoch. At first glance it appears tranquil, packed with resources and natural beauty. Obviously, this period of peace lasts for a matter of minutes before things go terribly wrong.

The trailer provides a glimpse at what we presume are the game’s opening moments as humanity lands on the planet of Enoch and is subject to a hostile storm known as ‘The Anomaly.” In typical sci-fi fashion, this kills many yet imbues a special few with special powers perfect for surviving in such a hostile environment.

I recently went to Poland and spent a handful of hours with Outriders, and we’ll have a bunch of content coming later week including a hands-on preview alongside some gameplay footage. Keep an eye out for that, since there’s plenty to talk about.

Outriders has been confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X, making it the second game yet to be announced for both platforms. Chances are it will be a launch game, and we picture a project such as this finding much more success with the appeal of being on a new platform.

People Can Fly will need to produce something mighty impressive to compete in the shooter market, which is already filled with huge blockbusters and live-service efforts which keep players invested with frequent updates and changes. Keep an eye on Trusted Reviews for more on Outriders very soon.
