Apple has made the OS X Mavericks wallpaper available for download, offering avid Mac fans the chance to make their device look ultra modern.
With the OS X Mavericks software not set to launch until later in the year, the WWDC unveiled operating system has been previewed, with Apple making the OS’s wave themed wallpaper available as a skin for current systems.
Available now from the official Apple website, the Mavericks wallpaper is compatible with all manner devices and is available for a range of screen resolutions. What’s more, with the high-quality image boasting 5,120 x 2,880 pixel dimensions, the OS X Mavericks wallpaper is sharp enough to run on Apple’s desirable Retina MacBook Pro or iPad 4 without looking grainy.
With Mac OS X Mavericks set to bring more than 200 new features to Apple’s computers, with Apple Maps and iBooks, two features formally found on the iPhone 5 and iPad mini, introduced to the Mac platform for the first time.
“The Mac has consistently outpaced the PC industry and OS X continues to be the most innovative and easy to use operating system in the world,” Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering said in unveiling the software. “OS X Mavericks is our best version yet and features new Maps and iBooks apps, Finder Tags and Tabs, enhanced multi-display support, performance and energy saving features, and an all new Safari.”
Stepping away from the company’s cat themed OS X naming convention, Mavericks sees Apple introduce new power saving options, with the latest operating system said to reduce CPU activity by up to 72 per cent.
