OS X Mavericks Problems: Audio issues reported by users

Following the software’s official release late last month, a number of OS X Mavericks problems have been reported, with users suggesting a range of audio issues are accompanying the new operating system.

With the new OS X Mavericks software having been launched alongside a revised range of MacBook Pro models and the new iPad Air during Apple’s October 22 launch event, early adopters of the Mac OS have reported the operating system is causing audio to disappear when computers return from sleep mode.

Said to be a widespread issue affecting many OS X Mavericks users, many early adopters have taken to Apple’s support pages to complain about the OS X Mavericks problems.

I updated to Mavericks three days ago but I find that there is no sound output (headphone &speaker) after sleep, even though for 1 second’s sleep,” one disgruntled OS X Mavericks users wrote on Apple’s forums. They added: “Every time I need to restart the computer to obtain the sound again.”

Far from the only user to report the OS X Mavericks problems, a further consumer wrote: “I have also had this problem. I find just restarting the machine will sort the issue out, however it’s very frustrating having to close all the programs to fix this.”

Although Apple has yet to officially acknowledge the OS X Mavericks problems, a number of workarounds have been suggested for the issue.
One user has claimed that deselecting the “put hard disks to sleep when possible” option in the system’s energy saver preferences helps address the issues.

Apple surprised many when launching OS X Mavericks by making the software update available as a free download. Traditionally manufacturers have put something of a premium on upgrading to the latest comprehensive software releases.

Far from the only issue to befall Apple customers in recent weeks, recent MacBook Pro problems saw the keyboard and trackpads on new models suffer from repeated freezing issues.
