Oral-B’s new smart toothbrush ensures you won’t miss the molars

A new smart toothbrush from Oral-B uses motion sensors and a smartphone camera to ensure users pay due attention to all of their choppers.
The Oral-B Genius features Positional Detection Technology to give users a read-out on areas they may need to pay more care to while brushing.
Users are required to place their phone in line with their mouth via a special mount in order to track the position of the brush.

The instant feedback via the Oral-B App via 4.1 will join the data on how hard users are brushing and whether they’re spending sufficient time doing so.
The Triple Pressure Sensor Technology and the Professional Timer, featured in earlier versions of the smart brushes are also retained for this version.
“With Oral-B guidance system, up to 93% of aggressive brushers reduced their brushing force and the time spent brushing with excessive force was reduced by up to 88%,” the company says in a press release (via SlashGear).
The positional tracking tech also boosts the timer by ensuring each quadrant of the mouth is brushed for at least 30 seconds.
“People using the Oral-B App brush on average 2 minutes and 27 seconds, whereas manual brush users brush on average less than one minute,” the firm added.
The Oral-B genius will be released in July alongside new versions of the iOS and Android apps. No word yet on the official price point.
