Oppo Latest To Beat Apple To Touch Screen PMP

Look a lot like a touch screen iPod but - confusingly - even more like a Philips Digital Photo Frame...

So the touch screen vibe is clearly flowing in the mobile phone world but after seducing fanboys across the globe with the iPhone it seems to be lagging behind others when it comes to the iPod…

Little known Oppo is the latest company to take advantage of Apple’s slow upgrade path and in the ‘V5’ it has unveiled a product which would look right at home in the iPod range.

Being ‘credit card sized’, the V5 is more nano sized than full on iPod but it nevertheless sports a proper 16:9 aspect ratio 3in touch screen widescreen display and measures just 11mm thick. Buttons are obviously kept to a minimum because of the headlining interface but there are a couple (including a lock switch) hidden along the top.

Like the player itself, full details are thin on the ground but MP3 and Mpeg4 formats are supported and it will come in capacities beginning at 2GB. Info on other pertinent details like battery life, launch dates and pricing however remain lost in the ether.

Still, Oppo shouldn’t worry about any Apple lawsuits in the near future since the V5 clearly borrows more from a Philips Digital Photo Frame than anything else Jobsy and his boys could dream up…

Well, it DOES. Doesn’t it?!
