OnePlus teaser hints at metal back cover
The OnePlus One could be getting a shiny metallic backplate, at least according to a new teaser from its manufacturer.
OnePlus posted a mysterious shot of the periodic table to its Weibo page, as reported by GizmoChina, leaving many fans scratching their heads over the cryptic clue.
The general consensus is that OnePlus is planning to announce a new back cover built from one or more of the materials on the table.
The best guess right now is aluminium, which is a popular choice amongst many smartphone manufacturers thanks to its light-but-tough properties.
Whatever the case, we won’t have to wait long – OnePlus plans to make its reveal at 10am local time.

Currently, OnePlus offers two core rear panels – the Sandstone Black and Silk White, neither of which are metallic.
There are also alternative rear plates available, including bamboo and wood, although metal would be an entirely new entry for the manufacturer.
There’s also the possibility that the teaser could be a clue regarding the OnePlus 2, the sequel to the One expected to launch later this year.
OnePlus could be gearing up to include a metallic panel on the OnePlus 2 instead, perhaps signifying it as slightly more premium fare.
