The OnePlus 5T is this year’s must-have Star Wars tie-in, it’s just a crying shame the company doesn’t love us Brits enough to give us the chance to buy one.
Rubbing salt into that particular wound is the discovery of a particularly nerd-tastic Easter egg.
When combining the first letter of every line on the greetings card bundled within the box, users form the message “scribble with pencil”. This reveals a new command at the bottom of the card.
“Find the secret compartment and check the weather forecast on Ahch-To,” it reads.

The secret compartment is a folding prism with a plastic base hidden in the box. When assembled and placed in the center of the phone, users will need to find that weather forecast in order to see a message from R2-D2.

The neat little inclusion is a nice bonus for those actually able to buy the Star Wars Edition *glares at OnePlus*.
Elsewhere, there’s an exclusive colour scheme designed to resemble the planet Crait. There’s also a neat Star Wars branding on the rear of the device and some exclusive Star Wars wallpapers.
The wallpapers were ripped and placed online last week, so those with the regular old 5T can at least get a little Star Wars action going on.
