The OnePlus 5T is killing all launch expectations – here’s why

The OnePlus 5T, which launched worldwide on Tuesday, November 21, has broken OnePlus’ internal launch day sales record, making the handset its fastest-selling smartphone to date.

OnePlus took to its official Twitter account on Wednesday, November 22 to share the news, writing: “Record-breaking launch day sales. In just six hours, the [OnePlus 5T] has become our fastest-selling device.”

The firm didn’t reveal how many units it sold.

Most people were left underwhelmed by the OnePlus 5, so it’s hardly surprising that a number of them held out for the OnePlus 5T – but we, like many, didn’t expect it to attract as much attention as it has.

The handset offers a larger 6-inch edge-to-edge ultra-tall display, an upgraded rear-facing camera (16MP + 20MP) and facial recognition software for the same price as its predecessor.

OnePlus will discontinue the OnePlus 5 as soon as its inventory has been depleted.

Pricing for the OnePlus 5T starts at £449 for the standard 64GB variant and tops out at £540 for the elusive 128GB model. A number of exclusive accessories, including high-end earbuds, are also available.
