Flagship OnePlus 5T discontinued in North America – here’s why
Those looking to pick up the flagship OnePlus 5T in North America will have a tough time finding one, as manufacturer OnePlus has announced that it has been left with no choice other than to discontinue the handset in the region.
No, we aren’t kidding. OnePlus told Engadget that it has now offloaded all the OnePlus 5Ts it manufactured for North America, a mere four months after the device first hit the market, as a result of stronger-than-expected demand.
And the OnePlus 5T isn’t going to be making a return, with Kyle Kiang, Head of Global Marketing at OnePlus North America, saying that customers on the continent will now need to sit tight and wait for the firm’s next flagship.

But that’s not strictly true. Fans desperate enough can import the OnePlus 5T from another region – mainland Europe, for example – or pick one up from a local independent reseller. Be warned, though: both will command a hefty premium.
All the signs were there for OnePlus to foresee the dramatic rise in demand for the OnePlus 5T – the handset broke the firm’s internal launch day sales record and the stunning Sandstone White colour variant apparently sold out in just two hours.
