Revealed: The official OnePlus 3 specs and images

There’s been no shortage of OnePlus 3 leaks, but now we have the official goods.

The OnePlus 3 has been listed – images, specs, and all – on TENAA, China’s equivalent to the USA’s FCC. All telecommunications devices that are sold in China have to be certified by TENAA first, which is why so many smartphones end up with an early debut via the website. The OnePlus 3 has paid TENAA a visit, confirming many of the design and spec leaks we’ve seen in recent days.

From the front, the phone looks just like its predecessor, the OnePlus 2. However, the rear panel of the phone looks much more like the HTC One M9, with its T-shaped antenna banding that leads down to a squared-off camera.

The specs listed for the phone – model number A3000 – by TENAA are as follows:

  • 5.5-inch AMOLED screen
  • 1,080 x 1,920 pixel display
  • 2.15GHz CPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • 64GB storage
  • Google’s Android 6.0.1 operating system
  • 16-megapixel rear-facing camera
  • 1080p video capture
  • 3,000mAh battery
  • Weight: 160 grams
  • Dimensions: 152.6 x 74.6 x 7.3mm
  • Colours: Light Grey/Black/Gold
  • 4G support

There are some details missing. For instance, TENAA hasn’t listed the pricing for the device, but it’s expected to fall between £200 and £300 in the UK. There’s no mention of the specific CPU that will feature either – only the clock speed. However, it’s widely rumoured that the OnePlus 3 will feature Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon 820, which comes paired with the Adreno 530 GPU. We’d be surprised if any other chip featured.

Yesterday, we reported on a claim that a OnePlus customer service representative had inadvertently leaked the OnePlus 3 launch date as June 14. That date seems very likely, but we can’t verify it. It’s also worth noting that if the phone does launch that day, it won’t necessarily go on sale then too.

If you haven’t heard of OnePlus, don’t worry: it’s a relatively new brand that launched in late 2013. The company’s first phone – the OnePlus One – was available by invitation-only, which garnered a lot of publicity for the firm. That continued to be the case for both the OnePlus 2 (2015) and OnePlus X (2015). The OnePlus 3 will be the company’s fourth smartphone to date.
