OnePlus 3 leaks yet again – HTC lookalike incoming?

Yesterday, we reported on images depicting a supposed OnePlus 3 handset. Today, shots of an identical phone have leaked out online.

It’s looking ever likelier that the OnePlus 3 will mimic the design of the HTC One M9 in part, as new images seem to reveal a very familiar looking – and yet unreleased – OnePlus smartphone. Tech blog PhoneArena first published the images, claiming they had been submitted via e-mail.

There’s little to discern from the new images other than the fact that the back-plate of the OnePlus 3 could very well look like last year’s HTC flagship. The front of the phone, meanwhile, appears to be a rehash of 2015’s OnePlus 2.

Nevertheless, these leaks are tough to verify, which means such images should be taken with due caution. While the OnePlus 3 could certainly look like the phone depicted in this latest leak, it wouldn’t be too tough to fake such images.

The OnePlus 3 is expected to be announced within the coming weeks. The new handset is rumoured to feature a 5.5-inch display, a Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB of RAM, and a 16-megapixel camera. It’s not clear whether the OnePlus 3 will be sold via the egregious invitation-only system used for all three previous OnePlus smartphones to date – here’s hoping it’s not.
