OnePlus 3 Launch Date Confirmed: Buy the phone invite-free from 14 June

OnePlus has confirmed that its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 3, will launch on June 14. And for the first time ever, the cult manufacturer will make the new device available on an invite-free basis, with Loop VR users the first to be able to pre-order.
We’ve been predicting the imminent arrival of the OnePlus 3 for a while now, so the June 14 reveal doesn’t exactly come as a massive surprise – in fact, it was leaked not long ago by a OnePlus customer service rep.
However, now we’ve got official word that June 14 is indeed the date to mark on your calendar, after OnePlus finally cut to the chase and confirmed the unveiling on its forum.
So far, so predictable, but what’s taken us a bit by surprise is the concurrent news that OnePlus will be ditching its famous (or infamous) invite-only ordering system, committing to open purchasing not just for the OnePlus 3 but all future devices.

OnePlus founder Carl Pei writes:
“With the OnePlus 3, we’re officially saying goodbye to invites. It’s a big step for us as a company, our fans, and fellow tech enthusiasts. After sending out millions of invites over the past two years, it’s hard to not think back to the early days and how far we’ve come. We’re proud to have reached a point where we feel confident in making our new device available without invites from day one.”
The launch event starts at 12:30pm EDT, or 5:30pm in the UK. Loop users (you can download the app here) will be able to experience the reveal in VR and have early access to pre-orders ahead of general sales going live at 6:00pm BST (3pm EDT).
