OnePlus 2 to launch on July 27 and you can watch in VR

Upstart mobile maker OnePlus has announced its next-gen OnePlus 2 smartphone will arrive on July 27 during the world’s first product launch to be aired in virtual reality.
As if the launch of one of 2015’s most hotly anticipated handsets isn’t enough, the company will stream a keynote address in VR, allowing fans to enjoy the illusion they’re present in the auditorium during the event.
Anyone with a cardboard VR headset will be able to join in, while the company has even designed its own OnePlus Cardboard custom headset.
In a post on the firm’s official forums on Thursday, the company wrote: “A VR launch lets you stand right next to our team and our fans as we unveil our new flagship.
OnePlus says it’ll let everyone know how they can obtain a custom cardboard headset in due course.
As for the phone itself, OnePlus has been slowly dripping out spec information for the successor to the wildly popular OnePlus One.
The second-gen device will feature an improved Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor free of overheating worries, OnePlus confirmed a couple of weeks back.
This week the firm ‘fessed up to integrating a USB Type-C charging port, making it the first ‘flagship’ phone to deploy the new standard.
Beyond the confirmed specs, rumours have suggested the handset will rock 3GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera and a 1080p display. There’s now little more than a month to wait until we find out for sure.
