One of the best Android app launchers just got even better – here’s why

Action Launcher, one of the best Android app launchers, has just received a major update. Here’s what you need to know about Action Launcher v30.

Developed by Chris Lacy, Action Launcher looks to bring the look and feel of the stock Pixel app launcher to other Android devices. To date, it has over has over 7,000,000 downloads on the Play Store.

The v30 update introduces a few design tweaks which take things a step further, bringing Action Launcher fully up to speed with the most recent Pixel devices – the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL – and the software-side changes they’ve meant for the Pixel Launcher.

The first of these is the addition of an at-a-glance widget. This is the widget that sits at the top of the Pixel Launcher and serves up relevant contextual information, such as upcoming calendar events. In keeping with its general emulation of all things Pixel, Action Launcher has now switched to the Roboto font – the same used by Google in Android Oreo.

The second change sees you able to customise the colour of any icons that you have added to the Google search bar. Again, this is an aesthetic touch-up, but one that many smartphone fans will enjoy.

Action Launcher v30 also includes the usual slew of bug fixes and stability improvements, and Lacy adds that the new update should see the launch work better on the latest Samsung devices, as it also now supports TouchWiz icons.

Check out Action Launcher for yourself via the link below – it’s free to download, but some features require an in-app payment.
