Olympus reveals its newest mirrorless camera: the OM-D E-M1 Mark III

Olympus has unveiled its latest flagship camera, designed to bridge the gap between the OM-D E-M1 Mark II and the powerful OM-D E-M1X.

The company announced the OM-D E-M1 Mark III this morning and its the latest addition to Olympus’ mirrorless arsenal.

The camera is packed with a 20.4 MP Live MOS sensor, the new TruePic IX image processor and can be used to shoot high resolution 4K video.

If 20.4 MP isn’t enough for you, the camera also has the 50 MP handheld High Res Shot mode found on its predecessor and is capable of snapping 80 MP shots with a tripod.

The camera body is weather-sealed, with Olympus boasting that it is dust, splash and freezeproof. This allows the E-M1 Mark III to handle a variety of tough and gritty shooting locations and natural environments.

The camera also has some pretty nifty autofocus features, including a joystick to easily toggle between focus points.

Focus Stacking is a great tool for macro photography as it gives photographers the ability to take ten shots with ten different focus points. The shots are then automatically composited to create one image with one larger focus area.

The E-M1 Mark III also has the Live ND feature previously seen on the E-M1X, allowing users to mimic the effects of a neutral density filter from right within the camera with longer exposure times and a preview mode so you can check the blur before pressing the shutter.
