Nvidia Shield TV update: The best streaming box just got better

The Nvidia Shield TV has been updated to Android Oreo, making what was already one of our favourite streaming boxes even better.
The Oreo update adds a number of new features, chief of which are a shiny new UI. The rearranged UI works to emphasise the Shield TV’s key selling point: the fact that it supports Netflix, Amazon Instant Video and pretty much every other streaming service under the sun.
The new top row will have quick links to all your favourite apps and services. The second will be a custom ‘play next’ row, showcasing the next episode of recently watched series along with new content the Shield thinks you’ll like.
The rows below will be fully customisable, letting you set up shortcuts to things like your favourite channels or a paired Plex media server.

The UI in theory should make it easy for you to discover new, or find the content you’re after without having to switch between apps and looks like a big step forward on the previous version.
The latest version of the Shield TV launched last year and was one of Trusted Reviews’ favourite Android TV streaming boxes, featuring 4K and HDR support plus the ability to stream PC games using Nvidia’s nifty GeForce Now service.
We’ll be updating our Shield TV review the moment we’ve had a chance to test the Android Oreo update, so make sure to check back with Trusted Reviews soon.
