Nvidia Grid to stream games in full 1080p HD at 60fps

Nvidia has revealed the Nvidia Grid service will stream games in full 1080p HD at 60fps when it launches in full in May.

Speaking during the Nvidia GDC 2015 press briefing, CEO Jen-Hsun Huang confirmed the graphics and resolution for the Nvidia Grid service is getting a bump.

Previously, the Nvidia Grid games were capped at 720p HD at a rate of 30fps, but now you’re looking at 60fps and full HD.

It will launch in full in May, alongside the new Nvidia Shield set-top box/games console hybrid.

There will be two different subscription models for the service – one premium option and a more basic one. We currently don’t know about pricing, but we’re sure we’ll find out more information about the tiers closer to launch in May.

With the service you’ll be treated to new games every week and at launch there’s going to be over 50 games available to stream immediately in that lovely full HD resolution.

If you want to opt for a non-subscription model, there’s also a Buy and Play option that lets you buy and start playing your title in minutes.

One of the launch titles for Nvidia Shield and the Nvidia Grid is the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight – an Xbox One and PS4 exclusive previously.

You’re also looking at some big AAA titles like Dying Light, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Resident Evil: Revelations 2 on the Nvidia Grid service too.

What’s also pretty incredible is that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming to Nvidia Shield too via Nvidia Grid. That’s an absolutely massive open-world game for consoles and PC, but now you’ll be able to get it running on the Nvidia Tegra X1.

By the end of 2015, Nvidia Grid will have over 100 titles for you to play.

The full Nvidia Grid service will be available from May alongside the launch of the Nvidia Shield.
