Nokia Windows RT tablet to be called Lumia 2520

Nokia’s much-anticipated first tablet device will apparently be called the Nokia Lumia 2520, according to an internet tip over the weekend.

Up to now, Nokia’s forthcoming Windows RT tablet has been referred to by the code name of ‘Sirius,’ but it seems we have now identified the device’s official name.

According to the ever-reliable @evleaks, the new 10-inch tablet will be called the Nokia Lumia 2520. Or to put it in their own Twitterific terms: “Nokia Sirius = Lumia 2520.”

This appears to be in keeping with Nokia’s naming conventions for its Windows Phone-powered smartphones. The latest Nokia Lumia smartphone is the Nokia Lumia 1020.

It’s likely to be the final piece in the Nokia tablet puzzle, as numerous leaks and reports have revealed (or at least suggested) how the device will shape up spec-wise.

The Nokia Lumia 2520 is likely to feature a 10.1-inch 1371 x 771 display, which would hardly be a cutting-edge component. Rather more promising is the suggestion that it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU.

We’re expecting 4G support, 10 hours of battery life, a micro HDMI port and a bundled case that doubles as a keyboard. There are also rumours of a 6.7-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics – all for the price of an iPad, apparently.

Of course, now that Microsoft owns Nokia you can bet that it won’t tread on the Surface range’s toes too much.
