Nokia Wahoo SureType RAZR Phone Leaks

One of the more creatively named phones we're seen. One of the scarier RAZR imitations...

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the industry’s latest mobile phone leak is its identity issue…

Yes, while not overly noteworthy, the Nokia ‘Wahoo’ firstly marks something of a dramatic breakaway from the Finnish giant’s penchant for rather soulless numbering and seems the perfect metaphor for the rather odd hybrid of a handset the Wahoo appears to be. Part Motorola RAZR (not the good part), part RIM-esque SureType split Qwerty input, the Wahoo does resemble the regrettable consequences of a drunken, midnight coupling. It’s also not overly thrilling in terms of raw specs.

For the record these include a rather piffling 2.2in QVGA main screen, a 1.36in 128 x 160 pixel external display, HSDPA, GPS, Bluetooth with A2DP and a microSD expansion slot. So-so. These are then done no favours by the two megapixel camera with LED flash, 2.5mm headphone jack (oh dear) and 80MB of internal memory. That said you will get up to four hours talk time over 3G.

As for portability, at 100 x 52 x 17mm and 115g I’ve seen tidier clamshells but it’s no pocket breaker. Pricing and availability haven’t been hinted at for what almost feels like a genetic bet but should Nokia actually look to deliver its confused offspring I wouldn’t expect it before January ’09.

Interesting? Ish. Though in truth it’s the kind of mutt I’d use to advertise birth control …
