Disney World has announced a blanket ban on selfie sticks at its theme parks around the world, citing safety concerns.
Guests at the parks in Orlando, California, Hong Kong and Paris will be asked to turn in their obnoxious arm-extenders during bag checks and will be refused entry if they fail to comply.
The decision, as reported by the Orlando Sentinel, comes following a number of incidents where patrons have whipped out their selfie-sticks on rides and rollercoasters, causing them to be halted.
Previously, Disney had reluctantly tolerated the presence of selfie sticks as long as they weren’t used on rides, but patrons have been unable to heed the warnings placed on signs around the park.
With cast photos such a large part of the Disney experience for visitors, it seems once again the few have ruined it for the many.

Disney will post the new rules outside the parks, on its websites, in parking lots and in resort hotels.
The changes at all parks will come into effect by July 1, with visitors now safe in the knowledge they won’t get their eyes poked out by other tourists’ attempts to grab a selfie with Goofy.
