Nissan 3E Google Glass rival teased in new video

Nissan has unveiled its own Google Glass rival, the Nissan 3E, which will be officially launched at the Tokyo Motor Show on November 23.

Until then, you can catch a glimpse of the Nissan 3E in a teaser video named “Nissan Birth”, a sci-fi affair that actually gives very little away about the upcoming wearable tech.

The in-car heads-up display looks very similar to its future rival, Google Glass, and comes at an exciting time for Nissan, as the company recently released its Nismo smartwatch design.

The Nissan 3E teaser video currently shows a countdown to the Tokyo Motor Show, and flashes clips of various models wearing the HUD.

According to rumours, the Nissan 3E HUD will be able to display vehicle performance analysis, as well as the driver’s vital signs for racing. It will also show social media feeds to keep the wearer connected with the latest happenings.

There’s no indication as yet for other features, or a price and release date for the Nissan 3E, but it could serve as a more informative tool than the average car dashboard.

Developers who are currently testing Google Glass have already had issues with the law when it comes to driving, so it will be interesting to see how Nissan circumvents these issues.

The Google Glass is due to hit the general market sometime early in 2014. It offer various content and media in a miniature HD display situated in the top right hand corner of the glasses.

Glass takes photos with a 5-megapixel camera and 720p HD videos too, all controlled via voice command.

It offers Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity and has 12GB of useable memory, all synced with Google cloud storage.

The battery life claims to have a whole day of typical use in it, but we expect it might be a little less than that if you’re particularly snap or video happy.
