Nintendo Switch is closing in on a big sales milestone as it nears 20 million

The Nintendo Switch is already closing in on 20 million sales worldwide, despite a relatively slow start to 2018 for the Japanese company.

Nintendo sold 1.88 million consoles during the previous quarter, which falls short compared to the 2.93 and 7.23 million reported in previous earnings reports.

However, it’s a quiet time of year, and the console’s slate of exclusive games also reflects that. The biggest titles of 2018 for Nintendo’s console include Mario Tennis Aces and Octopath Traveller.

While both excellent, the console’s momentum of excellent titles isn’t up to the standard it possessed during its 2017 launch year.

Of course, a plethora of indie titles are now available on Nintendo Switch including the likes of Stardew Valley, Axiom Verge and Minit is set to launch in the near future.

In terms of third-party support, the likes of DOOM and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus have proven the console isn’t just for kids, while mainstream successes like Fortnite and FIFA help bulk out the overall library.
