Nintendo NX: ‘We’re excited’ says GameStop CEO

The CEO of GameStop has described the Nintendo NX as “exciting” and noted that the Wii U was “disappointing for everybody”, including Nintendo.
In an interview with AListDaily, Paul Raines shared his thoughts on Nintendo’s forthcoming console, and how the company’s customers have responded to it.
“There is some excitement around NX,” Raines said. “Lately here, we’ve been hearing a lot more buzz than we have in the past. Nintendo is interesting in that they really are able to keep things as quiet as they can for a while.”
The GameStop CEO goes on to note that the passing of Nintendo president Satoru Iwata may have had an impact on the company.
“And then they just lost their leader, so they’ve gone through a mourning period and so forth. NX sounds exciting. We’re looking forward to it. They’re very innovative in everything that they do. I hope that they come out with something exciting and innovative.”
Raines went on to share his thoughts on the Wii U, in which he claims even Nintendo was disappointed in the console.
“Wii U was disappointing to everybody, including them. They made some bold bets, and maybe some of them didn’t work out. But they have a lot of creativity there. They’re a very innovative group of people, so we never count out Nintendo.”
Nintendo also announced today that it will not be hosting a Nintendo Direct at E3 this year, instead there will be a Legend of Zelda livestream.
The Nintendo NX is set to launch in March 2017, after initially expecting to arrive this year.
