Ubisoft: Nintendo NX is ‘really great’ and will bring casual gamers

As if Nintendo hasn’t had a good enough couple of weeks with Pokemon Go, the company is now receiving praise from key developer Ubisoft regarding the in-development NX console.
Speaking on an earnings call this week, CEO Yves Guillemot revealed “what we have seen is really great,” which will be news to the ears of Nintendo’s ardent fanbase.

Guillemot’s first-hand knowledge of the mysterious machine has convinced him the NX will even herald the return of casual gamers, many of whom have absconded consoles for mobile devices.
He said (via IGN): “
The return of Nintendo’s casual audience will undoubtedly be a key measuring stick for the NX, as the Japanese giant seeks to recapture the glory days of the original Wii and DS devices.

Guillemot’s comments appear to make it clear that’s the audience Nintendo will be attempting to recapture when the NX arrives in early 2017.
However, perhaps an even greater necessity for success will be the return of third-party support. The Wii U experienced a crippling dearth of titles from big name outside developers, including from the likes of Ubisoft. With the French company already singing the NX’s praises this early, it can only be a positive sign.

Surprisingly, even more than a year after it was first announced, little is actually known about the NX.
Nintendo has stayed impressively coy throughout the year, resisting the temptation to drop hints at the major gaming events throughout 2016.
However, with all of those Pokemon millions pouring in, adding billions upon billions of dollars to the company’s stock value, some might ask what’s the rush?
