Nintendo is making a Legend of Zelda game for smartphones

Nintendo is currently working on a smartphone game based on its popular series, The Legend of Zelda, according to an unconfirmed report in the Wall Street Journal.
President of Nintendo, Tatsumi Kimishima, revealed plans to release two to three mobile titles each year at the latest Financial Results Briefing. A mashup of Animal Crossing has already been confirmed, and is expected to be released in the second half of this year.
While no specific titles were announced during the briefing, the WSJ claims that ‘people familiar with the matter’ said that Nintendo’s beloved The Legend of Zelda series will be the next title to hit smartphones.
The Kyoto-based Pokémon company has already developed versions of Fire Emblem Heroes, Mitomo and Super Mario run for iOS and Android.
There’s no word on when the rumoured game will be released, but the WSJ reports that Nintendo has given itself a deadline of the end of the financial year for its next handful of mobile offerings. If it stays on schedule, a smartphone version of The Legend of Zelda could be in our hands before March 2018.
The WSJ also reports that Nintendo is planning a new card game app, but Nintendo has declined to comment on the matter. Nintendo Wire has speculated that it will be a smartphone version of the Pokémon trading card game already available online and on the Game Boy Colour.
A Pokémon card game for smartphones would be an obvious candidate for Nintendo’s mobile line-up following the popularity of Pokémon Go.
