Nikon has introduced a new tilt-shift lens, with what it says is the the widest-perspective yet for a control lens, alongside an update to its its 70-200mm f2.8 telephoto lens.
The company’s new PC 19mm f4E ED tilt-shift lens allows you to overcome fishbowl distortion, which often appears when using wide angle lenses, by sliding the front element in four directions.
Along with the tilt function, which lets you change which elements are in focus, the 19mm lens will allow you to capture wide angle shots with low distortion.

These kind of lenses are often used to capture photos that create a miniature effect in which there is only a slice of focus, and Nikon’s new offering comes with an angle of view of 97 degrees, making it great for architectural or real estate photographers.
With 12mm of shift in all directions, 7.5 degrees of tilt, and 90 degrees of rotation in either direction, the lens should also make shooting video a whole lot easier – plus, it can focus as close as 10.8 inches from the focal plane.
Nikon’s also included the usual Nano Crystal Coat on the front element to keep ghosting and flare to a minimum, while packing in an electromagnetic diaphragm for fast auto-exposure control.
Alongside the tilt shift lens, Nikon introduced an updated version of its 70-200mm f2.8, with the new AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8E FL ED VR lens.
Offering impressive flexibility, the 70-200mm provides a range of focal lengths, from a normal lens to extreme telephoto, while the constant f2.8 will ensure high levels of bokeh and improved low-light shooting.
Nikon’s also gone and included a Silent Wave Motor system, which basically means the lens comes with ultra-fast and quiet autofocus operation along with an override option via the manual ring.
Add to that six ED elements, one Fluorite element and a high refractive element, four stops of image stabilization, and weatherproof sealing to block dust and water, and Nikon has provided a very tempting lens with the new AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm.
The Nikon PC 19mm f4E ED will be available this November for $3,399 (about £2,770), while the 70-200mm f2.8E FL ED VR will also release in November for $2,799 (about £2,280).
