Nikon Coolpix P310 Is New 16.1MP Compact

Nikon has announced the latest in its premium compact line-up, the Coolpix P310, which continues the styling of its predecessor the P300, but has boosted the sensor from 12.2 to 16.1 megapixels.

The Coolpix P310 comes with a back-side illuminated 16.1 megapixel CMOS sensor combined with a bright lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.8. The lens also benefits from Nikon’s VR image-stabilisation technology.

It features a 3in 921k-dot LCD screen on the back, which comes with an anti-reflection coating to help viewing outdoors. The P310 also features a manual exposure control and a control wheel on the top for adjusting shutter speed and aperture –  a feature borrowed from Nikon DSLR range.

The camera features a number of creative modes such as a 3D shooting mode and 180 and 360 degree panorama modes. The Nikon Coolpix P310 also comes with a Zoom memory mode to allow you to jump directly to your favourite zoom setting.

You’ll be able to capture 1080p video with the P310 along with stereo sound recording, and it offers a continuous shooting mode of up to five full resolution images at 6fps or up to 30 full resolution shots at 1fps.

The P310, which is compatible with Eye-Fi X2 (or later) cards, will be available in black or white from 22 March costing £299.99.
